Another attempt by yet another state of the union to pass an unconstitutional bill prohibiting the sale of \'violent\' videogames to minors has been squashed.
The bill, which would have imposed a $1000 dollar fine on any retailer if they sold a violent video game to minors, has before now seen preliminary injunction in late 2005, otherwise it would have gone into effect January 1, 2006. Since then the bill was pending investigation...

Introversion\'s Darwinia has scored plenty of good press over the past year. With a cult following from its first demo release, the game has gone on to win at the Independent Games Festival. The success has earned Darwinia a download-to-play release on Valve\'s Steam service and, most recently, a boxed retail version published by Cinemaware Marquee, whose stated goal is to bring some of the best overlooked games to retail. Though the N-Gage hardware might be gone, the N-Gage spirit apparently won\'t die. Nokia has changed the N-Gage from a portable gaming device into a portable gaming network available exclusively to Nokia customers. The network will provide downloadable games to many different types of cell phones, not just a specific one pushed as a gaming device. Set to launch in 2007, the service will offer both first and third party titles. If you\'re interested in Nokia\'s push to return to the world of gaming, read about the rebirth of the N-Gage.

Namco has been steadily rolling out the latest games for the \"mobile arcade\" of the future. At E3, the Pac-Man Arcade was in full effect: Besides a sequel to everybody\'s favorite game, Pac-Man, there are tons of new games to download that include both retro and cutting edge content. As the mobile gaming space continues to open up, Namco has managed to make strides in every direction, from games to ring tones and branding gaming as a \"theme\" for your fave hipster handset. According to Nintendo.com, which was partially off-line for part of the morning, Nintendo has kissed the Nintendo Revolution name goodbye. Say hello to the Nintendo Wii, the new and final name for Nintendo\'s next home console. We here at GamesFirst did a double take for each of the two ii\'s, and even have one editor still convinced that the Nintendo site has just been hacked and that this will be cleared up by the afternoon. However, after the website came back up with all the appropriate links in place, it looks like this is official. The Nintendo Wii is here to stay, and the Nintendo Revolution is gone forever. All shall bow before the Wii.

Koei\'s latest historical Asian brawler is heading to PSP in the very near future. Samurai Warriors: State of War has gone gold and is in production as you read this. In addition to announcing the impending launch, Koei also sends word of a revamped website for Samurai Warriors: State of War. The new site is sized and optimized for the PSP\'s small screen web browser. That is a nice touch for PSP owners, who can browse the web with the browser included on the handheld gaming system. How can you bring Scrabble into the 21st Century? Add a wild card. WildWords is a revamped version of Scrabble that is much more than a revamped version of Scrabble. In WildWords, the \"blank letter\" tile is replaced with an asterisk (*) tile that can represent one or several letters. One of the most beloved strategy games of all time makes its way to the Nintendo DS. Ensemble Studios\' juggernaut PC series Age of Empires has been a long time coming, and promises to prove once and for all the value of that touch screen. While Age of Kings has obviously been modified to fit the requirements of gaming on the go, the addition of wireless multiplayer and the ability to carry the game with you anywhere should be enough to get any Age of Empires fans interested in the potential.
